There are a lot of athletes and bodybuilders who are a little confused about human growth hormone. Many consider it to be like steroids or even the same thing! However, the two substances are very different; though they do share the common ground of being naturally produced by the human body. In this article, we’ll cover the differences between steroids and bodybuilding and HGH and bodybuilding.

The most notable difference between steroids and HGH is the side effects that they can cause. Most people are well aware of the side effects caused by steroid abuse. For instance, steroid abuse can cause effects in men including a lower sperm count, testicular shrinkage, impotence and even developing breasts.

Women can experience steroid abuse side effects including disruptions in the menstrual cycle, a deeper voice, shrinking breasts and developing facial hair. In both genders, steroids can cause side effects such as weight gain, liver damage, blood clotting disorders, higher cholesterol levels and a greater risk of cardiovascular problems. Steroids are also known to be potentially addictive and cause withdrawal symptoms when attempting to cease using them.

By contrast, HGH has a lower risk of side effects, with HGH supplements being practically free of this problem. You may have heard about side effects associated with human growth hormone, though this is essentially limited to injection HGH therapy, not the hormone itself or HGH supplements.

Injection human growth hormone therapy can cause side effects like high blood pressure, diabetic coma, abnormal bone growth and joint inflammation. These side effects are caused due to the HGH coming from an external source instead of the natural process of having HGH in the system which the body’s own endocrine system produces.

Fortunately HGH also exists in supplemental form. Unlike injections, HGH supplements are safe because they do not contain actual HGH. Instead, they contain a blend of amino acids and nutrients that stimulate the pituitary gland to produce more growth hormone. Because it does not hamper the natural production of HGH, side effects of HGH supplementation is minimal and very rare.

Another difference between anabolic steroids and HGH is that human growth hormone cannot be detected using the blood tests which are done to test for steroids. HGH is almost impossible to detect with a blood test and is easily absorbed by the system, which has made HGH supplements very popular with bodybuilders and other athletes as well as with the general public.

HGH’s benefits for bodybuilding have been known for quite some time, with this hormone being considered a preferable alternative to steroids. It’s safer and much less costly than steroids while being effective and free of side effects.
