<p>In some cases, when a person is well prepared for their presentation they find that they can&#8217;t remember what they are supposed to do when they meet the expectant eyes of their audience. Working through this issue is important for many people to advance in their careers and in life.</p>
<p>Some people are able to turn their fear in a direction that will help them to perform exceptionally well in unfamiliar situations. Other people are immobilized by their fear and find that each step towards the unfamiliar creates more difficulty to respond appropriately because they are speaking to a crowd that they do not know. One way to reduce anxiety is to network with the individuals that will be attending. Spending time with the attendees will give you a chance to get to know them and their level of interest in your presentation or discussion.</p>
<p>One of the ways to greatly reduce the fear of speaking or presenting to a group of strangers is to &#8220;humanize&#8221; them, remove the unknown by talking to individuals who will be attending. Taking the time to find out something personal about some of the attendees will also help. In addition, when you speak to them personally, they will feel that you care about your topic and the audience you are presenting to.</p>
<p>One of the triggers for panic attacks is forgetting to breathe. When a person enters a stressful state, their breathing will become shallow and rapid. The lungs and brain are not getting enough oxygen to function properly. Often this will trigger the panic that is associated with the attack. By learning the steps to slow breathing and following this course prior to the presentation, you will be able to effectively eliminate this trigger and avoid the fear that is associated with not getting enough air or not being able to breathe.</p>
<p>Creating an atmosphere will be very helpful in addressing anxiety when doing a presentation. Most people make the mistake of wearing tight fitting clothing or items they are very uncomfortable in. Discomfort often adds to anxiety and creates an extra level of worry when trying to concentrate on an effective presentation. Wearing clothing that you are familiar with and comfortable in will have a positive impact on your ability to present effectively.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Over the last decade numerous studies have been published regarding the effectiveness of Therapeutic Touch, a form of Laying on of Hands developed in the early 1970s by Dolores Krieger, Ph.D., RN, a professor at New York University School of Nursing, and Dora Kunz, a well known healer.</p>
<p>In the beginning, Krieger and Kunz only taught the techniques to Krieger&#8217;s graduate school nursing students, but Krieger&#8217;s professional research and writing increased the popularity of the technique, particularly among nurses. The practice grew nationwide, through a grassroots effort of nurses throughout the United States. Today, therapeutic touch is taught at hospitals and health centers worldwide and is most commonly practiced by nurses.</p>
<p>Therapeutic touch is a form of healing that uses a practice called &#8220;laying on of hands&#8221; to correct or balance energy fields. The word &#8220;touch&#8221; is misleading because physical touch is generally not involved. Instead, the hands hover over the body. Therapeutic touch is based on the theory that the body, mind, and emotions form a complex energy field. According to Dr. Krieger, health is an indication of a balanced energy field, and illness represents imbalance. Studies suggest that therapeutic touch can help to heal wounds, reduce pain, and promote relaxation.</p>
<p>Approximately 75-90% of nursing home residents experiencing dementia develop behaviors that are probably associated with a stress response. This technique has been shown to promote calmness, decrease restlessness and agitation.</p>
<p>A double blind study was conducted at UCLA in order to measure therapeutic touch&#8217;s effect on cortisol levels and behavioral symptoms. Cortisol is a key hormone in the stress response. Its levels increase in response to perceived stress, as a way of preparing the body to run or fight.</p>
<p>Sixty-five participants, between 67 and 93 years (average age was 85.5 years) were randomly assigned to one of three groups. The experimental group received therapeutic touch twice daily, with contact on the shoulders and neck for three days.</p>
<p>The placebo group received a mimic treatment that was identical in appearance, and the control group received routine care. The results suggest that therapeutic touch may be effective for management of symptoms like restlessness. In addition to the relief this technique has the potential to provide, it may also help with reducing costs, because it is an intervention that is easy to learn use and can be an alternative to drug treatment for people with behavioral symptoms.</p>

<p>Major events of life such as the death of a family member or friend, or the separation or divorce of parents may trigger depression. Certain medical conditions, particularly those that affect hormones, can also cause depression in teens. Substance abuse; poverty; physical; emotional or sexual abuse and violence can all set off teen depression. Genetics plays a role too, as children with family members who have suffered from depression are more susceptible to becoming depressed themselves.</p>
<p>If someone you know or a family member seems to exhibit symptoms of depression or withdraw from their peers and family you should look into depression support groups. Things to watch for include not eating, wanting to stay indoors all the time, sleeping a lot, and alcohol and drug use. Depression is different for each individual. A depressed person may be overly active (eating too much for example), while another may lose all interest throughout the day.</p>
<p>When going through a long period of deep anxiety and stress connected with my work, I was able to improve the quality of my sleep by using a few simple techniques. You are all of a sudden encircled in a flow of heavy traffic on both sides, feeling very high or inebriated with everything being imaginary or surreal. You are dizzy, confused and just barely realizing what is going on on. But you do know this : you have a total panic attack.</p>
<p>I know, because I have been through it. Not everybody feels like you are right or drunk, there are a spread of symptoms that you can experience. Other symptoms that you might experience are :</p>

<p>These are all very common symptoms. We don&#8217;t experience each one of them at the same time. Some folks only experience 2 these, other different ones every time. I do not believe there is an answer why is that.</p>
<p>However, it&#8217;s good to grasp some of the activators of anxiety panic attack while driving, so you can recognize them. They might help you, because once you recognize they are triggers, you are aware to what has happened to you. If you know what it is, you&#8217;re no longer afraid of it, you are AWARE.</p>

<p>If, while driving, you are feeling the first suggestions of a panic attack approaching, don&#8217;t panic! ( I know, simpler said than done ). Slow down, and pull over your car, if you can. If you can&#8217;t, thanks to the road circumstances, then ensure you drive slowly, do not fret about the other drivers honking on you. It&#8217;s their problem, not yours. Open your window, take some fresh air, inhale intensely. If you have water with you, drink a bit. Ensure that you always have a pleasant, relaxing CD with you, that you already know and love.
