Some people would have you believe otherwise, but it is quick and easy to learn good karate or kenpo, or whatever art you wish to learn, from Martial Arts DVDs. You can learn hard core self defense, fighting karate, classical gung fu combat techniques. You can learn virtually any art, there are judo dvds, taekwondo DVDs, you can even look into martial arts DVD rental!

Before you buy that Kung Fu training DVD, however, and start doing the Tito Ortiz all over the place, there are three things that you absolutely must do. It really is crucial, and your success or failure will depend upon these three things. Indeed, without doing these three things you might just as well put aside your martial arts DVD training.

The first thing you need, and this is so simple that it is a no brainer, is you need a place. Even if you don’t have a personal Shotokan training hall, or a taekwondo dojang, or a Kung Fu kwoon, you must act as if you do. You have to select a spot in which to train and mock it up as a fighting dojo.

You need to clear out the bric a brac, not just stack it in the corners, because you are going to want to hang shiny kung fu weapons on the walls. You are going to have to check the stability of the rafters, because you are going to want to hang a kicking bag and not break the roof! You are going to want about 15 by 15 of cleaned out floor space, because you want to be able to execute Choy Lay Fut patterns or work on your shotokan karate kata DVD without tripping on things or stepping on anything.

The second thing you will need is a time. I know this sounds silly, but businesses survive, people learn things in school, everything in the world runs by being in the correct place at the correct time. So you are going to need to set aside a couple of hours every couple of days, or whenever you plan to train, and you are going to never miss an appointment!

Your wife wants you to take her shopping…no! The kids are going to have to keep busy by themselves. And turn that darn cellphone off!

Now, you have the time and the place, and one would assume you have the latest and greatest martial arts video training tape (my favorite is Matrix Karate…it was inexpensive, but the data on it was worth ten tapes), and you must not forget…your partner! You need to have somebody who is willing to do the sweat, put in the time, make the appointment, and wants to have a blast! In a way, your martial arts training partner is the most important thing of all, because without a real body to practice your kung fu techniques on it just won’t get real!

Now, you know the steps you have to take, and I want to say one thing: past the cost of cleaning your garage and a few Parker Kenpo videos, this is virtually free martial arts training. You go at your own pace, no one to push you past your comfortable learning speed, nobody to slow you down. And that’s my take on how to learn from Martial Arts DVDs.

Power, in the Martial Arts, especially martial arts like Tae Kwon Do or Gung Fu is often measured by how hard you can hit. Thus, people strike the punching bag and the Makiwara, and they do push ups to strengthen their arms, and…and they are doing it all wrong. You see, there is one critical factor that they don’t understand, and so all their push ups and punches are having less effect than they would wish.

I want to point something out here…and I can only do that by asking you one exact question. Where, when you throw a punch, do your arms bear the most weight? The answer is plain to see, they bear it when the arm is nearly extended at the end of the hit.

So why do you need to work your arm across the whole range of motion? Being strong at the beginning or middle of the push up is not where you need the strength. Concentrating your work out through the whole range of motion of the arm is not putting energy into the impact part of the punch where you need it.

So, when you do a work out, make it gentle and general, and build up your body and your arms as a whole unit, then concentrate your efforts on the end of the punch where you need it. This is easy to do, you can do it for just about any exercise in existence. All you have to do the motion of the exercise where the arm is nearly extended, and concentrate your training on that part of the exercise.

Let’s say you’re doing that mainstay of all exercise, a simple push up. Do the push up until your arms are almost full length, and that’s where the real work out starts to occur. Do as many six inch push ups with the arms almost at full length, as you can, fast, concentrating on keeping your belly taut and having excellent form.

Here’s the point of it all, you need to concentrate the work out, and feel the power, in your shoulders. When you punch something the jolt of impact is going to go up your arms and directly into the shoulders. Thus, it is the shoulders that must become strong and dense, it is the shoulders, as felt in the last six inches of the push up, that must be built up.

For a good punch you have to make the shoulders thick and dense, so perform the six inch push up as much as you can, and do it at various times of the day, until the muscles of the shoulders become as matter of fact and strong as the leg muscles of a marathon runner. It’s odd that people have never thought of this type of exercise, and I scratch my head at it, but it is common sense. I suppose the problem is that people are taught how to work out one way, and never actually look at the exact goal they are trying to accomplish.

So do those ‘end of the arm six inch push ups like they are going out of style. Do them and breath and put your awareness in your shoulders, letting your shoulders lightly bulk and become densely strong. This is the way you develop a punch that is stronger than the next fellow’s, this is how you have the most powerful punch in the world.

Bobby lost his left arm because of a childhood accident, but it didn’t slow him down. He rode bikes, played sports, and did everything a child is supposed to do, except for one. He never did the martial arts, he figured he had finally found the one activity he would never be able to do.

When a martial arts school opened up in his neighborhood, however, he could not stop thinking about it. He would pass by the school slowly, staring at the kids working out inside. He would ask his friends who studied martial arts about their training, but he never went inside the dojo because he knew that there was no way he could do that physical discipline.

One day a friend of his invited him to the dojo to witness a promotion. Bobby went, and watched, and sadness ate at his heart like a chainsaw chews trees. After the demonstration and promotion, Bobby was introduced to the instructor, who invited him to study the martial arts.

“I don’t see how I could,” said Bobbie, “since I only have one arm.” The instructor smiled and merely said that having one arm wasn’t a problem. He held that all things are possible to a man with a whole heart.

So Bobbie began learning martial arts. He threw himself into the practice like a starving man attacked a plate of food, and he made good progress. Unfortunately, the instructor, while he would show Bobby all the techniques, would only let him work on one specific technique.

Day after day, week after week, Bobbie focused on learning the one technique. Dutifully, he worked out the problems with until his execution was as smooth as silk. Still, the instructor would not let him drill the other techniques.

One day, the instructor came up to Bobbie and said, “I’ve put you in a tournament.” Bobbie was flabbergasted, he just knew he was going to be beaten like a dirty rug and tossed like yesterday’s salad. Still, his instructor believed in him, so he went to the contest.

He faced his first opponent, and when the attack came, he used the one technique and won the match. And he used that one technique to defeat the second opponent, and the third. When the end of day came, Bobbie had won the tournament!

The next day Bobbie thanked his teacher. “The thing I don’t understand,” wondered Bobby, “is why that one technique worked so well!” His instructor grinned hugely, “The only defense against that technique, no matter what art you have learned, is for your opponent to grab your left arm.

The first time I ever read someones mind was in San Francisco. My wife and I were wandering through the stores in Chinatown, and we entered a shop where a grumpy faced old Chinese lady sat on a stool in a corner. As we peered at the goods, the grumpy one snapped at her daughter, “Look, look, look, everybody just look!”

Walking down the street after we left the store, I asked my wife, “Did you hear what that old lady said?” “How could I,” my wife peered up at me intently. “I don’t understand Chinese.”

The old lady had spoken in her old tongue, and I had heard her in English. In essence, I had peered into her mind and perceived her thoughts in my language. And I had this ability, I intuitively knew, because I had been studying the martial arts.

The human mind is just a big radio receiver, but it transmits, and picks up, thoughts. The sad fact, however, is that the mind is pre-occupied with static. Children can usually see into people’s minds, but they outgrow the ability and don’t even remember it when they grow older.

In the martial arts you use the discipline of the body to clear out the static and clutter. You do this by concentrating on doing one thing, the form. Eventually, the distractions to the mind clear away, and the original ability is once again possible.

The problem, unfortunately, is that the martial arts have been so conflicted that it is difficult to find a form, or series of forms, that work the way they are supposed to. Oddly, almost any form can work if it is properly examined, and reworked so that it is scientific and true. This normally takes a tremendous amount of work, even a whole lifetime, but the process can be sped up if one knows the proper science.

Interestingly, the old Taoist writings of classical martial arts such as Tai Chi and other Wudang arts, speak of being like a child in your approach to life. I also came across mention of this concept in classics of Zen Buddhism. Unfortunately, by the time one resurrects this ability one is aged.

Nevertheless, the old anecdotes are true, the martial arts really do work, and in ways most people don’t imagine. Indeed, though the martial arts teach people how to defend themselves in combat situation, abilities like reading minds are the real beginning. And the beginning of the real beginning, for most people, is simply passing through the doors of that neighborhood training hall and learning a little Kenpo or Kung Fu or Tai Chi Chuan.

Al Case, 4O plus years studying martial arts, has written a free ebook which explains the Martial Technology for fixing the martial arts. It is available at his website, Monster Martial Arts.

The era of the magnificent and real Shaolin gung fu was about 1975 to 1985, give or take a few years.

The era of the magnificent and real Shaolin gung fu was about 1975 to 1985, give or take a few years. Of course, the time period could probably include the time period of 1985 to 1995, because that is when those movies showed all night on TV. And, of course, chop sockies forever, because we can now get them on the internet, though we should make sure it is a clean copy and that we have a good DVD player to play them on.

One could make argument that Bruce Lee provided the first kung fu flick, and they wouldn’t be wrong, for his movies started the flood of kung fu flicks in America. The first real chop sockie, however, would have to be Five Fingers of Death, with the amazing and inspiring Lo Lieh. Lo Lieh, who thrust his broken fingers into cauldrons of red hot rocks until he could have his revenge.

The main chop sockie movie maker, though there were hundreds of movie makers, would be the Shaw Brothers. They churned out thousands of the things, and they convinced the world that if you had an idea and believed in yourself, you could learn gung fu. The main man of Shaw Brothers was a young actor name of Gordon Liu.

Gordon Liu knew real gung fu, and I believe he was adopted into a family of movie makers. One brother was the director of these magnificent masterpieces, and the other brother was involved with stunt work. I think that was the situation.

Among his masterpieces, and I will name three of them here, was The Master Killer, also known as Thirty Six Chambers of Death. Mr. Liu always played endearing fools, tilting at windmills, who, through Kung Fu, managed to win in the end. The Master Killer was his entry into the field, and it propelled him right to the top.

One of his gems was Return to the 36th Chamber, where he plays, surprise of surprises, an endearing fool. The plot is silly, the acting is farcical, but the idea that one can learn kung fu from the common tasks of life is incredible. And, when our bumbling fool returns to his village, entirely disillusioned, only to find out what those nefarious monks have done to him…well, the phrase ‘I Do Know Kung Fu’ becomes a clarion call and inspiration to all kung fu students everywhere.

My favorite of Gordon Liu’s movies is an epic titled Fists of the White Lotus. Our endearing fool is betrayed, practices his moves for ten years so he can have revenge, only to find out that the bad guy has also had ten years to practice his moves. This movie inspired Bak Mei of Kill Bill fame (played by Gordon Liu) and far outshadows such well meaning epics as Crouching Tiger and Kill Bill and that ilk.

The originals flicks, you see, provide innocence and inspiration that cannot be refuted. You want to learn the real stuff of real Shaolin gung fu? Go find these movies, watch them and be inspired, and live life the way real heroes live it.

I don’t care how much muscle the other guy has, if you have speed, then you are going to win. If he throws a punch, you are fast enough to block or step out of the way. If you throw a punch, it is faster than his block.

Do you know how important speed can be in the martial arts? Yet, the sad fact is that nobody ever teaches people the techniques of how to have speed. Nobody ever teaches you the specialized knowledge that result in your becoming able to move your body fast enough to handle absolutely anything.

To be honest, to took me nearly seven years of dedicated discipline and practice to become fast in the martial arts. That’s seven years of forms and techniques and freestyle and bruises and work and exhaustion. And I knew there had to be a better way.

I first became cognizant of the speed available through martial arts through the first move of the form Botsai. That is the move where you do a three blocks quick, and the body protests because you are trying to make it do large movements to handle simple movements. And that concept, doing much to handle little is one of the keys to becoming faster.

Simply, if you absolutely and positively have to do something…then you will. So in Bot Sai somebody is firing three simply punches at me, and I have to respond with three large circles of the body, complete with hip twisting. I have to do it, and, practice enough, and I am able to do it.

So to get faster the old way, you have to set up a problem to be solved, then train your body over a period of time. And I saw similar methods utilized in other arts. And I saw some arts which went for the simple movements, but then they lost out on the hips and generation of power.

But I did realize something through my experience and observations in the classical arts, and that something is called visualization. Assume a position, be there, and forget about being anywhere else. When you have forgotten what you are doing enough, be in another position, and don’t have any thought or effort in between.

The idea here is to take out the ideas of weight and movement that is inherent in the way you move your body. Be here…then be there, and don’t have anything in between. It’s a zen approach to the practice of the martial arts, and it still takes some work, but by backing up your Karate sweat with a bit of mental attention and intention, it is possible to speed up your hands in months instead of years.

The four main practices used to achieve enlightenment are the way of the fakir, the way of the monk, the way of the yogi, and the way of the martial artist. In this bit of scribbling we shall go over what is special about the way of the warrior. After all, enlightenment is probably a pretty nifty thing to reach, and it would be a good idea to speed up any individuals progress on the way to enlightenment.

It is said, of the four methods used to reach enlightenment, that the way of the martial artist is the fastest. This is an interesting viewpoint of enlightenment, for one would think that a path concerned with combat would be the slowest. After all, learning how to maim and destroy one’s fellow man would seem antithetical to the path necessary to enlightenment.

First, the warrior deals with matters of the world. He does not turn his attention inward to seek enlightenment, but does his searching in an open manner, seeking out conflict and confronting it. This means, ultimately, giving up the desire for conflict, none of the other enlightenment disciplines utilize this methodology.

Second, the warrior deals with the real world. We could argue about what is real, but in lieu of that mental exercise let’s just say that the universe is constructed of objects in motion. The warrior is the only traveler of the four that deals directly with a universe filled with objects in motion.

Third, the warrior is much more active in following his discipline. I say this because the discipline is active. Simply, the warrior has something to do on the path to enlightenment, which is something the others do not necessarily have.

Fourth, there is a built in guiding factor in the way of the martial artist. Simply, if a technique does not function, the result will be noted as a punch in the face. This ‘feedback’ device tends to make the artist more demanding in his seeking of perfection and enlightenment.

To conclude, let me say that every method of enlightenment has its strengths and weaknesses. Heck, that was something you already knew. So the point of this article is not to speak ill of other methods, merely to point out how glorious the one you are immersed in is.

You are the one; you are the karateka and the shaolinist and the aikidoist and…the Tai Chi-ist. You follow a path, and you are in a hurry, no matter how slow you think you move, to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Godspeed.

Zingo bingo! The Strongest Mind ever to exist in the Whole Wide World! Able to woo any dame and beat up any villain, and...sounds a bit too good to be true, doesn't it?

Zingo bingo! The Strongest Mind ever to exist in the Whole Wide World! Able to woo any dame and beat up any villain, and…sounds a bit too good to be true, doesn’t it?

Oddly, what I did worked, but not in the way I thought it would. So let me tell you what I did, no charge, and see how you do. Are you ready?

I once read that a man who can concentrate on one thing for three minutes can rule the world. The point was that to stay focused on one thing, to put it simply, blows up the brain power. Having read this, and wanting to have the most fully functional brain allowed, I decided to do it.

I was doing doing Karate at the time, and exploring side avenues of Sticky Hands from Wing Chun Gung Fu, and various other martial things, and I really thought that I had the mental horsepower to pull anything off. I did my forms, I could remain calm during combat, and I had the discipline. Now all I had to do was apply that discipline to seeking enlightenment, pursuing Nirvana, or whatever you want to call it.

I decided to use a simple, little rock to shape the ultimate concentration and the resulting explosion of pure mentality which, I hoped, wouldn’t shatter the universe too badly. A rock, after all, was what the earth was, and the shape of the thing was round, like the whole darned universe, and it seemed so neat and appropriate. So I went into a nearby field and chose a well shaped rock, and prepared to turn on my enlightenment.

I sat down next to a tree, placed the rock in front of me, and focused on it. I tried not to think, I tried to just focus on the rock, and to ignore all those silly little surface thoughts, like what was for lunch and what the latest movie was, or what I was going to do that weekend. I was, after all, going to shatter down the doors to heaven, so what use did I have for the following weekend, right?

After three minutes I tossed the rock away, stood up, and started walking away, totally disgusted with how boring the whole thing was. I mean, to think that I was going to enter the ultimate paradise just through being able to think at a rock, how stupid, how boring! Suddenly, I was jerked to a stop as a sudden thought washed over me.

It wasn’t the stupid, little rock that was so darned boring, it was me that was boring. All that boredom was coming out of me, and I realized something…I would never be bored again. And I suddenly knew that I had achieved some form of enlightenment, the thing had worked, but not at all how I thought it would.

Many parents become alarmed when their children avidly ask for airsoft guns for special occasions. Airsoft guns are actually harmless as long as the proper safety protocols are followed.

Airsoft guns are deemed as one of the safest guns for people to use. However, despite what many people are saying about the safety of the guns there are still a wide array of people that would love to see the guns banned. Before you make a final stand on how you feel about the guns, it helps to have a knowledge concerning what the guns truly are.

Airsoft guns are toy guns that look a lot like a real gun. They fire off pellets at a rate of 25m to 45m. The guns are not like the old BB guns that many people consistently keep comparing them to. They will not fire out windows or anything of that nature.

The guns have been around for a series of 30 years, so inadvertently they are not as new as many people avidly presume them to be. The guns are designed for a plethora of recreational activities which include paintball, target practice and even war simulation games.

The airsoft gun was manufactured in Japan. During its creation, guns were banned in the country, yet there was still a lot of demand for them. Therefore, many people came together to make a gun that would be considered safe and allow people the opportunity to utilize them without getting reprimanded.

The guns began to grow in popularity all over Japan, and eventually the guns were put onto the main market. Guns started being produced in the Philippines, Hong Kong and finally made it big upon being introduced to the UK and the USA.

There are three main types of airsoft guns that anyone can obtain. The guns are the spring operated series, the gas operated series, as well as the battery powered gun. All of the guns are to be used for recreational activities and they accredit themselves as being extremely safe.

The guns are fairly simply to use, and they are noted as being extremely safe as well. The guns launch plastic pellets which have been recorded to not cause any unnecessary ailments.

To ensure that your child is safe you should always make them wear protective gear when using the gun. All children should be equipped in a mask that will protect their faces, goggles, and a pair of gloves when they are playing with the guns.

Parents should not be alarmed to purchase airsoft guns for their children. As long as your children realize that they need to protect themselves while operating the guns they should not have any ailments. Today’s youth is accustomed to protecting themselves in comparison to prior generations.

As long as your children adhere to all the safety precautions that go along with the guns then you as a parent should have nothing to worry about. Let kids be kids and play with their airsoft guns.

The air soft guns are usually created for the recreational purpose. The guns are mostly operated manually and based on the compressed gas inside such as CO2, green gas, propane. These guns are mainly manufactured for the teen agers above 16 years. The guns projectiles when fired would not travel at intense speed and are not at all heavy. Therefore there is no real momentum and so no harm. Some of these guns cannot be operated by the teen agers below 18 years. The article would discuss about airsoft guns and their diversity.

The spring powered guns are not the most powerful ones like the electric guns and the gas guns. However there are few models that can fire 500 fps such as shotgun and the sniper guns. The spring gun uses the elastic potential energy which is stored in its spring and with the help of compressed air it would fire. The most important thing is that they must be cocked before shooting.

Automatic electric gun is one of the most favorite guns for the users and players. The rechargeable batteries are attached to the gun as it helps to drive the motor. They are commonly used around the world. The guns are created at Japan and they are referred as AEG or automatic electric gun. This is because of the function of the airsoft guns is automatic or semi automatic.

The some of the latest guns in the market are hybrid guns. The also come under the category of AEGs. But these airsoft guns have better reliability and they fire based on the round per shell. These guns have close connection to the real ones as for every shot that is fired shell casing – ejected. It fires a cap which makes a sound quite real and gives out smoke also.

The low-powered electric guns are otherwise known as LPEG, because there must be a difference between AEG and LPEG. These guns are considered as better choice when it comes to cost and handling but they are totally different from the mini electric guns.

The medium powered guns are electric guns that are a copy or a duplication of the guns made by Tokyo Marui or classic army originals, some of the most famous producers of guns. These guns are fully compatible ones. The UHC is a mini electric company and is mostly recognized for their spring gun models. They are dissimilar to the LPEGs and most of the times made up of clear plastic or black. The ones who would like to aim well must go for this.

The automatic electric pistols are otherwise know as AEP and were brought into the market in the year 2005. The operation of the gun is based on the electric power system. The guns are considered to be much better than the gas guns as AEPs work better in the cold climate and they have better side arms and there is no particular movement in the slide. The classic guns are the gas powered guns and they are old fashioned. There are two ways in which they run, either on the gas or on the CO2 gas externally.

The airsoft guns must be bought with the help of the above provided guide and their range. The guns could be bought on the internet also for better deals and discounts. You would have to just go through some of the best sites for good offers.
